Mass Com 311 – Introduction to Mass Communication COURSE DESCRIPTION An introductory course on the various forms of mass media – print, film, radio and television; and other fields of mass communication – marketing, advertising, public relations and communication research. These are presented in terms of historical backgrounds, features, functions, and organization setup. The current state of the mass media in the Philippines in particular, and in the world in general, are discussed.
At the end of the course, the students are expected to: Cognitive be familiar with the various forms of mass media. Affective realize the value of human communication and inter-action and the need for discipline and teamwork. Psychomotor apply the knowledge gained from the course in preparation of simple communication projects such as news and script writing, program conceptualization and critical writing.
