I am
researching the Philippine American War, 1899-1902 (or longer depending
on which history you read!).One of the mysteries left from the War is the
activities of Anastacio Bartolome. He was a freedom fighter in the Lacuna
Brigade. Later he is said to have killed the famous guerrilla David Fagen
(a black American soldier who defected to the Filipino liberation struggle
and also fought under Lacuna).Bartolome was from Santor, near Bongabon,
from reports I have seen. He reported the death of Fagen at the American
garrison at Bongabon, early December, 1901.He claimed he had killed Fagen
and injured two Aetas who were with him, and the wife may have drowned.
The alleged incident was on the beach at Dingalan Cove.
No one seems to know if
Bartolome did kill Fagen. Apparently the Americans put a US$600. reward
for Fagen, dead or alive. But there is no record of it being paid to Bartolome.Some
people think Fagen and Bartolome made up the story to get the money for
Bartolome, and a new life for Fagen in the hills where he could live peacefully
with his Filipina wife.
I would be very happy to
hear from anyone who has information about Bartolome, or Fagen, or the
wife, or the Aetas who seem to have escaped the alleged ambush.

bus from Manila to Dagupan and had my wallet stolen. Jerry the conductor
on the FiveStar bus was helpful and provided funds to me. I lost his contact

Hi,
I don't know how to get this e-mail started but I would be uneasy all day
if I did not compose this. I am looking for two young children (
they were about 9 and 7 years old when I left the Philippines in 1982),
now married.
I met Rina and Joey at their
young age in Sto. Nino 3rd, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija. They use
to call me " manang". I love them so much but circumstances
took us all apart from each other. I have been a resident of the United
States for the last 28 years.
I saw their late brother
Eddie's obituary, this is why I got to know Rina's married last name.
I believe she is a nurse and a resident of Canada but where, I don't know.
I'm assuming that Joey lives in Kehei, Maui, Hawaii.
I visit Hawaii all the time,
I would really love to get in touch with them. My children are visiting
Canada and I plan to visit there next year as well. It would be a great
privilege if they can e- mail me or visit each other as circumstances allow.

syang sundalo nong WW2. Hindi sya nagbalik sa bayan n'ya sa Leyte matapos
ang giyera. Merong nakapagsabi na sa Nueva Ecija siya napadpad. Maaaring
hindi sya nakabalik dahil sa nasawi sya sa giyera. Maaaring nakaligtas
sya ngunit hindi na n'ya nais na magbalik pa.
