Rev. Fr. Antonio 'Onet" A.
Mangahas
Parish Priest
Fr.
Onet is no stranger to the Three Kings Parish where he was once assigned
as director of the Divina Pastora College.
He was born on April 17, 1957
to Antonio Mangahas, Sr. and Liwayway Apolonio. He is the other half of
the "Mangahas priest-brothers", the other being Fr. Rene with whom he was
ordained as priest 25 years ago on June 18, 1983.
He finished grade school at San
Leonardo Elementary School then went to the Maria Assumpta Seminary for
his secondary education. He took up Philsophy and Theology at the University
of Santo Tomas and postgraduate studies at the Ateneo de Manila University,
University of the Philippines and Harvard University in the United States.
His service to the people of God
began as a deacon in the Parish of St. Rose of Lima in 1983. After his
ordination as priest in 1983, he returned to his alma mater, the Maria
Assumpta Seminary, to serve as its spiritual director from 1984 to 1986
and acting rector in the summer of 1986. He was appointed parish priest
of St. John the Baptist Parish in Bibiclat, Aliaga from 1986 up to 1988
when he was appointed Chancellor of the Diocese of Cabanatuan.
In 1988, he returned to the academe
when was tapped to be the president of the College of the Immaculate Conception
in Cabanatuan City, a position he held until 1995, and director of the
Divina Pastora College in theThree Kings Parish from 1993 to 1995. From
1988 to 2000, he held the position of superintendent of Cabanatuan Catholic
schools.
He was the spiritual director
for lay ministers in the Diocese of Cabanatuan from 1988 to 2007, and served
as parish priest of St. John Nepomucene Parish in Cabiao from 1995 to 2000.
He moved on to become the parish priest of St. Anthony Abbot in San Antonio,
Nueva Ecija from 2000 until he was given his latest assignment as parish
priest of the Three Kings Parish and rector of the National Shrine of La
Virgen Divina Pastora in Gapan City.
He has been serving as the episcopal
vicar for the clergy since 2006.
On a personal note, if Fr. Onet
sounds good whenever he sings during Mass, it is because he loves music
from classical to jazz. He watches plays and movies, surfs the net "once
in a while" and is into texting, too. He explores the world, hikes and
does mountain climbing, and generally loves nature. He says he finds joy
in the company of his nephews and nieces, laughs "a lot", and cries "sometimes".
Rev. Fr. William "Bill" Villaviza
Priest in Residence
Fr.
Bill was born on February 12, 1970 to Gelacio Villaviza and the former
Marcelina Simon.
Just like Fr. Onet, he has a brother
who is also a priest, Fr. Oneil. But the Villavizas took it one step further
-- Fr. Bill also has a sister who happens to be a nun, Sr. Luchi, SFIC.
He finished his elementary grades
at San Carlos Elementary School in San Carlos, Aliaga, and spent his high
school years in Talavera National High School. He attended the Somascan
Fathers Seminary in Lubao, Pampanga where he finished his A.B. English
course. He then took up A.B. Philosophy at San Pablo Seminary in Baguio
City, and Theology at the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary in Guiguinto,
Bulacan. He has a masteral degree in Educational Management from Dela Salle
University.
Fr. Bill became a deacon on August
22, 1998, and was ordained priest on February 27, 1999.
His first assignment was as prochial
vicar of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Cabanatuan City from 1999 to 2001, then
had the opportunity to serve his hometown, Aliaga, as parish priest of
St. John the Baptist Parish -- home of the renowned "Taong Putik Festival"
-- from 2001 until he was assigned to the Three Kings Parish as, the way
he puts it, "resident priest".
He is the director for sacred
music of the diocese, and no wonder, for just like Fr. Onet, he can jolt
anyone from stupor during Mass and somehow bring him/her closer to God
with his singing prowess. |
